Menopause
Research suggests menopause can change where the body stores fat. Your doctor considers that hormonal and metabolic context when discussing options and expectations.

Explore what treatment could involve, how the team supports you and the questions to discuss before deciding whether to begin.

Clear answers to the questions that can hold a decision back. Your doctor covers them in more detail.
The most common symptoms are digestive, such as nausea, constipation or bloating, and most could be dose-related and temporary. Tell your team at any time; the dose or pace can often be adjusted.
There are also oral treatment options available. Be sure to discuss these with your doctor during your first appointment, as they can assess whether this treatment option is suitable for you.
It varies from person to person. Some people benefit from longer-term treatment to maintain progress, while others move to a lower maintenance dose over time. Your doctor reviews this with you regularly.
When medication stops, hunger signals can return, so some regain is likely if underlying drivers persist. Your team plans for this with nutrition, exercise, coaching and, sometimes, continued treatment.
A dietitian helps you build eating habits you can keep. Protein and resistance exercise help maintain muscle during weight loss, and regular coaching helps turn plans into everyday habits.
Your answers may point to a clinical review, a free care-coordinator call or information instead. Care coordinators explain the service; questions about suitability are for a clinician.
Decide how to start your weight loss and medication journey with BeyondBMI. Whether it’s a free chat with our care team, an initial doctor’s consultation for €89 or heading straight into the programme, you get immediate access to and support from our leading clinical team.

Member story · two years on
“It’s not a miracle cure, it’s a tool and if it’s used properly, it can change your life.”
Sandra, BeyondBMI member
Before. At a family wedding in Crete two years ago, Sandra felt miserable and uncomfortable, and didn’t recognise herself.
Starting. Her first call was with Dr Emma. She did her homework before starting, and says the knowledge and support were a game changer.
Now. She walks every day, trains in the gym four or five times a week, and says her confidence is back: “I feel like I have me back.”
Sandra’s own account, 18 months into her care. Individual results vary. Captions are part of the video.
I went to a family wedding two years ago in Crete. Spent the whole time just feeling horrible, miserable, uncomfortable. Didn’t recognise who I was. Signed up for the first… had a call with Dr Emma, who was lovely. Once I started it this time, I did the homework before I started it, and it was a game changer, because I had the knowledge, I had the support. It’s not a miracle cure, it’s a tool, and if it’s used properly, it can change your life. It changed my life. My life is completely different now compared to the way it was two years ago.
Yes, I still work, it’s still pretty crazy, but I’m in the gym four or five times a week, I’ve done three [unclear], walk every day. My confidence in myself: I feel like I have me back. My husband, he just said to me, he said, “I haven’t heard you laugh like that in years.” He said, “I’ve got you back.”
Feel the fear and do it anyway. Yes, it’ll take work, and yes, work can be scary, and working on yourself and looking inwards can be scary, but do it. You’ll thank yourself.
